Time after Time

One of the few antique clock repair workshops in Italy is in Menaggio….a small shop with amazing clocks and antique watches.

Not many would think that all of these pieces could be put back together to make up a working watch. But Fabio and Piero Colombo of Menaggio can do it!

The shop which has been carefully looked after by the same family for two generations has their skilled workshop on site and they can pretty much repair any clock that comes their way.

Just want to send a big shout out to Bruno Solano and Jeanette Juett. What a cute couple!

Had it not been for Jeanette’s travels to Lake Como in the 1950’s to meet and fall in love with Bruno Solano the story would have been different.

The English have always loved Lake Como and especially Menaggio with its’ promenade, lake views and mountains. Truly chic and cosmopolitan in so many ways from the romantic hotels to the borgos!

FROST! yes, it gets cold here too!

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Post

Lake Como is famous for it’s temperate climate, palm trees and the tempature rarely dips below zero degrees, except on the odd night in the winter months. During the day it’s bright blue winter skies with a minimum temperature of around 5°C. As you move away from Lake Como and into the surrounding valleys the temperature dips and frosts appear.

One of the coldest places in the Menaggio Valley is the Nature Reserve of the Lago del Piano http://www.riservalagodipiano.eu/indexb.html.

Getting to Lake Como

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Post

Lake Como is accessible by many modes – the pilgrims on their way to Rome were testimony to that! The lake is just over 50km from Milan and has some of the worlds most stunning scenery.

Generally most of our guests choose to fly to one of Milan’s three airports and then either hire a car or take public transport from the airport to Lake Como.

Driving times from Milan’s three airports:

LoveComo takes us much of my time,
